Prehistoric Animals
A timeline of 470 million years

This project was designed to illustrate the timeline of prehistoric animals and ancient history's significant periods and events. Each period shows the change in evolution from sea animals to amphibians to reptiles and mammals.

A prehistoric animal refers to any species of organisms that lived on Earth before the advent of written records. This era, known as prehistory, spans a vast period, ranging from the formation of Earth approximately 4.6 billion years ago to the emergence of written language around 5,000 years ago. The data from this chart begins at the Ordovician period, around 485.4 million years ago.

The data from this project was sourced from UC Berkeley's Paleobiology Database of Paleontological Data. After the data was gathered, it was categorized by age, height, diet, and class.
